What is Hertz Rent2Buy®?

A:

It is an innovative programme launched by Hertz Car Sales with the purpose of selling high-quality, active rental cars online at very competitive prices. Hertz Rent2Buy® provides customers with the opportunity to test the vehicle for 5 full days by renting it at a low special rate, which will be waived if the car is purchased.

Hertz Rent2Buy® is not a “Rent to Own” programme.

With Rent2Buy, Hertz has focused on making the used car buying experience simpler. We have eliminated the middleman so you are protected from the haggle process. By reducing these costs, Rent2Buy has been able to transfer savings to the customer and offer high-quality, well-equipped used cars at great prices. Other benefits include:

What are the steps in the Buying Process?

A:

Hertz Rent2Buy® streamlined the buying process and took the hassle out of buying a used car, plus added peace of mind to the formula.

  • Reserve your car online for a 5-day Test-Rental
  • You’ll receive an email confirming your rental and providing the exact pick-up address.
  • An agent from the Rent2Buy team will contact you to inform the car is ready.
  • Pick up your car at the designated Hertz location and don’t just take it for a test-drive around the block, instead kick the tyres and feel the ownership for 5 full days.
  • If you decide to purchase the car, contact us via telephone or email.Our sales processing team will get in contact with you to explain the sales process.
  • You can also contact us at 0207 365 9035 during office hours with any questions you may have.
  • If you decide not to purchase the car, there are no strings attached, simply return it to Hertz and pay for the rental charges.

How do I start my search?

A:

Searching for a car on Hertz Rent2Buy® is easy. On our homepage, choose Make & Model or Body Type of the vehicle you are looking for via Find Used Cars For Sale search function. You can change your location by clicking on Change link, which will take you to Google map powered location search.

Is the mileage of the car displayed exact?

A:

Information on the site is constantly being updated. The mileage listed is the most recent update since the last rental. However, if a vehicle is out on rental the mileage posted is the latest mileage recorded at the time of the prior return.

Q:

Can I see the car prior to making a reservation?

A:

Since these are active rental vehicles, unfortunately we cannot guarantee the car will be available for you to check prior to making a reservation. Placing a reservation ensures that the car will be pulled from the fleet, prepared and made available for you. The reservation is an appointment you set to check the vehicle you are interested in. Upon arrival at the location please proceed to the counter and identify yourself as a Rent2Buy customer. The Counter Service Representative will walk you to your vehicle. Please check out the car before you sign the rental agreement. If the vehicle does not meet your expectations, there is no need to open the rental agreement.

What do I do if I want to buy the car?

A:

There’s no need to return the vehicle simply log on to your account , go to My Test Rental and click on the Purchase car link within 5 days after your pickup. You will be contacted by your Sale Processing Representative who will guide you through the sales process. You can also contact your Sales Representative at any time at 0207 365 9035.

How can I find out the location’s exact address?

A:

The exact address for the Hertz location will appear on your reservation confirmation e-mail.

Q:

Do you offer a warranty on the R2B vehicle once purchased?

A:

Every car sold through Rent2Buy to retail customers has the remaining factory warranty. Generally, this is up to 60,000 miles or 3 years from the first date of registration. Some makes, e.g. Kia come with a 100,000 miles or 7-years warranty. Please contact the Customer Care Team to confirm the warranty on your preferred car.

Can I get a copy of the vehicle maintenance records?

A:

We will provide you with the service history of your vehicle once payment has been received.

How do I cancel my reservation?

A:

Login to your account, click on My Test Rental List, and cancel your reservation. To help us provide our customers with the best service possible, we appreciate it if you would describe the reason for your cancellation.

Does Hertz accept trade-ins?

A:

Hertz does not accept trade-ins.

Can I rent the car and make monthly installments to Hertz?

A:

Hertz Rent2Buy® is not a “Rent to Own” program. Hertz Rent2Buy® provides customers with the opportunity to experience ownership of the car through a 5 day Test Rental. This test period will help our customers make the best decision towards purchasing the car, unlike traditional used car sales

Q:

How is the daily rental rate calculated?

A:

The price quoted at time of reservation confirmation is based upon the standard 5-day test drive period. If the test drive is terminated before 5 days, or exceeded, then the rate will change. Also, the rate will change significantly, if vehicle is not returned to the original renting location.

Can I take my test drive car abroad?

A:

No, this is not allowed.

Q:

Are there any age restrictions or exceptions on test renting or purchasing a vehicle?

A:

On most test rentals, the minimum age is 25 without an additional Young Driver Surcharge, and 23 with an additional Young Driver Surcharge. Unlike rental charges, young driver surcharge is not waived if you purchase the vehicle.

Q:

When do young driver surcharges apply?

A:

Hertz will test rent selected car class vehicles (Prestige Collection and high performance cars excluded) to customers who are aged 23-24 with a Young Driver Surcharge, in addition to the normal rental rate.

How much are young driver surcharges?

A:

Most car classes will require a £25.00+VAT per day surcharge, as of May 2012. See the counter representative for details

Q:

Are the prices of cars displayed on the website subject to change?

A:

Prices of all cars displayed on the website are valid through the date listed with the price disclosures. Once that date expires, prices are subject to change, based upon current market conditions. These changes will not affect you if you have placed a reservation or are test-renting a car at the time the price change occurs.

Q:

If I decide to purchase the car, how will I receive my sales documents?

A:

Once you confirm your intend to purchase test-drive vehicle, we will email you an invoice. Please, quote this invoice number or the vehicle registration number as a reference when making payment at the bank.

In the event of you purchasing your vehicle via a 3rd party finance provider, you may be required to sign additional handover documents at your local rental location before we release the registration documents.

Q:

Can I use my Debit Card or Bank Card to reserve a Hertz car?

A:

At most Hertz locations, debit issued under a VISA or Mastercard logo which draw funds directly from the cardholder's account may be used to qualify for rental. However, prepaid or stored value cards which have a VISA or Mastercard logo are not accepted to qualify for rental. Debit cards must have available funds for the estimated amount of the rental charges plus a deposit to cover any incidental charges in order to secure the rental. Both debit cards and prepaid or stored value cards issued under a VISA or Mastercard logo may be used as a form of payment when you return the vehicle

Most of Our Cars are Still Under Factory Warranty
That’s because most of them are still 12,000 to 40,000 miles young, with their best years ahead of them. Warranties vary from car to car, but we think you’ll be impressed.
Most manufacturers’ warranties last for 3 years or 60,000 miles but please do enquire with our Customer Care Team who can confirm how much warranty is left on your preferred car.
