The Funniest Car Accessories

Car accessories are constantly evolving, changing in terms of complexity, boldness and ridicule too.

Recent accessories to grace the streets include giant moustaches across the front grilles of cars, and fake bullet hole stickers spattered across doors and tailgates of would be gangsters.

Something which might actually be a little more useful is a French Fry holder. McDonalds even gave away free holders in Japan back in 2013.

Speaking of which, Japan is a country which revels in the absurd accessory. A recent illustration of this surrounds the neuroware Shippo tail.

Amazingly, the Japanese have come up with a fake tail, which you can wear. It wags or droops in response to your mood, which is then shared via social media.

Will it be much longer before we might see cars driving the streets with an animal’s tail tagged on the rear?

From Thunderbird to Transformer
Another common accessory is a sticker, or colouring option, to transfigure your car into the latest Transformer or similar action vehicle. Under or in car lighting remains a particular favourite among younger drivers seeking a way to add some glamour to their motors.

A similar option is an engine noise generator. You can purchase these to vamp your Mini into a howling Chevrolet, to the delight of passing pedestrians. There is a more serious side to this however. Manufacturers including Porsche now routinely contract audio firms like Yamaha to programme a variety of sounds to be piped into the vehicle’s interior.

The vast array of amusing car accessories doesn’t appear to show any sign of slowing. How funny you find them will of course depend on who you are, but regardless of this no accessory should negatively impact on the performance or the safety of your car.

Having fun while driving is all part of the game, but make sure you don’t do it at the expense of safety or other road users.

Finally, if you’ve millions to burn, you could go for a Rouge Acoustics car audio system. This will set you back a trifling $300,000. $1 million will get you diamond encrusted wheels, and for the last of the big spenders, a number 1 plate went for £1.4 million in the UAE.
