How Green is Your Car?

With the population on the rise, it is believed that 70% of the people of the world will be living in cities in the next 40 years. This will lead to more people on the roads, and therefore, more cars. We may also have more green cars for sale with the growing technology, but we have to take the responsibility to alleviate the stress that this is going to cause on our environment by taking the necessary steps. Let’s begin with making our cars green, shall we?

You may choose to buy an eco-friendly car for sale, but how do you ensure that your car is green when it is with you? Here are some tips:

1. Keep a check on your tires
Making sure your tires are healthy and happy is one of the easiest ways to make your vehicle more eco-friendly. As you may have already experienced, driving on underinflated tires doesn't provide the best traction or driving experience. That means, if your tires are on the squishy side, your engine is using more gas to keep them moving.

2. Keep your car light
It’s in your best interest to keep the weight of your vehicle as light as possible. After all, the heavier your car is, the more fuel it will consume. Reducing the weight of your vehicle by as little as 10 percent can improve your fuel economy by 6 percent or more. So, take a few moments to remove unnecessary items stored inside the car or trunk.

3. Keep your car tuned
A properly maintained vehicle can improve its efficiency and reduce emissions while saving you money. Regular engine performance maintenance will help you burn less gas, pollute less, and prevent car trouble down the line. This will include checking the spark plugs, replacing the fuel and air filters.

4. Use Less Air-Conditioning
Using the A/C in your car as sparingly as possible is great for the planet. Excess use of your car's air conditioner puts a strain on your car’s electrical system, which makes the engine gobble up gas at a fast pace.

5. Drive Smart
Don’t be in a hurry to put your foot on the accelerator as soon as the traffic light hits green, as the sudden firing of the engine eats up more fuel. Even better, go for carpool!

Start small today and save the planet for your future generations!
