How would you like to drive the ‘car of the year’? At Hertz, we are excited to tell you that we have added the esteemed ‘Volkswagen Golf’ to the list of the cars that we currently deal in, and that’s not all! You might also be interested to know that the most recent edition of the Golf range; the seventh generation, has recently claimed the 2013 ‘Car of the Year Award.’

The Golf is a lovely make of vehicle, so well made, in fact, that it first claimed this prestigious title in 1992. With the recent win, the Golf is now the second vehicle (the Clio being the first), to claim the ‘car of the year award’ twice. And that’s not all! It should be noted that every generation of Golf has been placed in the top three awards for the last thirty-eight years, which, is incredibly impressive!

The new Golf, the seventh generation, is much like the previous ones, having an overall balance in its features and outstanding achievements in fuel efficiency, dynamics, safety and most importantly, comfort. There are some changes in the latest model, whilst it manages to retain the unique look and feel of the ‘Golf’ grandeur. With a lightweight structure based on the new MQB flexible platform of VW group for passenger vehicles, it emerges as a slightly different beast underneath its exterior. The classic cabin is spacious and luxurious, making it a treat to the eyes.

The new Golf is certainly a wonderful car, but the older variations of Golf are equally impressive. Hertz Rent2Buy offers a large variety of the 2012 1.6 models, which were highly appreciated by the reviewers; what with Top Gear claiming the model to be quiet, well built and simply nicer to drive. And the customers couldn’t agree more. It has been well noted that the petrol and diesel variants are smooth, the steering light, and the suspension supple. All versions of the model are comfortable and perfect for long journeys. The chunky, easy-to-operate gearbox and controls, as well as the light, tight gearshifts make for an easy drive. Even though the Golf was relatively new at that point, the chassis and engine range are based on that of the original, therefore promising reliability.

Lastly, a very relative point is that the Golf promises to be a very economic choice in vehicles, the dealer servicing rates are sensible and the easy availability of spare parts means that the customers can shop around for the best deal.

The 2012 1.6 model of VW can cost approximately £10,000 and is available with all of the following features; , air bags, anti-lock braking, power assisted steering, remote adjusted wing mirrors, CD- single, climate control, heated wing mirrors, powered windows- front and remote central locking.
