Middle Eastern Supercars Swamp Knightsbridge

It seems that an annual influx of Eastern-owned supercars is causing chaos in expensive areas of London.

Just weeks ago, UK broadsheet The Daily Mail reported on how vehicles come to the UK with their owners, in a bid to escape the all-pervasive heat of the Middle Eastern summer.

But in so doing, they are blocking up London’s streets and attracting thousands in parking fines, which matter little to the multi-millionaires, for whom such penalties are barely even a distraction.

Some of the vehicles involved include Mercedes, Range Rovers, Bugattis and Rolls Royces. It appears the vehicles are commonly parked up outside Harrods, whilst the millionaire playboys pop inside, seeking expensive luxuries to see them through the summer months.

And it seems that speeding is another issue. A local resident, quoted in the Daily Mail, said: “They are again racing down Sloane Street from late afternoons until 3 or 4 in the morning. We honestly thought we had made progress but it seems as though local residents are in for another sleepless August.”

Some of the vehicles, it is reported, are incorrectly registered, and are themselves valued in the millions. Local councils have admitted they are having difficulties retrieving fines levied against the millionaire drivers. This is primarily because after a few months have passed they are no longer in the country, having returned to the East, where legal redress is challenging to pursue.

The next moves remain uncertain. Whilst locals appear largely against the yearly influx, other people welcome the vehicles, which they feel are making London’s streets more exciting.

Certainly it is unlikely that any council steps in terms of cash fines will impact on the drivers, who are virtually immune to any punitive measures councils might take by means of their extravagant incomes.

“All in all a very special couple of hours. London continues to host more foreign cars, something that, we at least, are happy to see!” said www.gtspirit.com. It appears that whether or not the cars are divisive, or a pleasure to see, depends upon your attitude!
