Summer is coming! And there’s no better way to celebrate the warmth and the wind than to take a long drive down the beautiful country of Wales. Famous for its soaring mountains, scenic lakes, and valleys, Wales is an attraction for tourists in the UK and Europe. So, buy a used car in London and take it for a drive on the top 5 highways in Wales that’ll make you fall in love with the country:

A470: Easily the top choice, A470 is the backbone of Wales. Starting from Cardiff, the capital city, A470 travels through two of Wales's national parks; Brecon Beacons, and Snowdonia. On A470 you’ll come across everything that Wales has to offer as you travel through the heart of the country. The highest point in Southern Britain, Pen y Fan, is just an hour away from this road.

A4069: After Jeremy Clarkson drove the Black Mountain Pass on the tv show, Top Gear, this swooping mountain pass has become a favourite of car enthusiasts and bikers. Drive across the pass at your own leisure, stop for breathtaking views of the Tywi valley. Added bonus: Carreg Cennen Castle and Dinefwr Castle lie just a few miles west of the highway.

A5: This major highway is a popular route to the Snowdonia National Park, so the long drive will align perfectly with a trip to the Park. A5 has a lovely stretch past Llyn Ogwen, surrounded by the towering peaks of Tryfan, Glyderau, and Carneddau. Other places to visit are the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a world heritage site in Llangollen, and Zip World Velocity, near Bethesda, the longest and fastest zip line in Europe.

A466: Also known as Wye Valley road, this highway runs near the border of Wales and England and passes through the beautiful Wye Valley. You will come across Chepstow Castle, the legendary Tintern Abbey, the Llanthony Priory, and from above a glorious view of the valley on the way.

A4120: This road has the prettiest view from Aberystwyth to Cwmystwyth along the Cambrian Mountains. Take the mountainous road to Elan Valley Reservoirs towards Rhayader. You’ll encounter the Devil’s Bridge, a set of three bridges atop a dizzying gorge along the way.

So, what are you waiting for? Plan your calendars, make arrangements with your other half and friends, brush up your vehicle or buy a used car in UK from Hertz Rent2Buy, and head for the open road!
